I just wanted to let the people of tumblr know that 24 people died in Moore, 9 of which were children. The number is not 50 or 90, although the number doesn’t make a difference in terms of tragedy.

Prayer is not helpful. I’m sure most of those children prayed every night before they went to bed because their parents taught them to, so why do you think that your prayers AFTER the disaster will make a difference? Ignoring the obvious overlying argument that results when people recommend praying to their “wonderful, glorious God and creator” when 40 children have died, do something that actually makes a difference. Donate money or cleaning supplies. They no longer need clothes, as that is not their concern right now. They need gloves, masks, bins, shovels, things like that. Please think about this and help in a realistic way.

Also, there are many animals that have been separated from their owners that are injured and very scared. The shelters need help with transporting these animals and getting them the help that they need.

Tornado Strikes Moore, Oklahoma

An EF-4 tornado struck Moore, Oklahoma today, causing widespread damage across a 20-mile path throughout the Oklahoma City suburb. The tornado has claimed at least 37 lives with many more injured and has left thousands without power.

Our thoughts go out to those who have been affected, and we hope those in the Oklahoma City area stay safe in the upcoming days. You can find more information on how to help the tornado victims here.
